Do you ever wish you hadn't gone with peri? I am one of those guys who has the decision between peri or DI and everyone tells me DI. Also can you get revision to fix your nipple or no?

No I literally never regret it. I’m so so happy with the results. I don’t even mind the non-nipple as I call it. But I will still go ahead and get the revision done. Medalie said he would not charge a surgeon’s fee for it so there is really no reason not to.

Garramone’s DI results are amazing (as are some other surgeons’) and I totally understand wanting those rather than the results and/or risks of peri. There are pros and cons to both.

But I’m so pleased with my chest - I love it and am proud of it and I’m glad I had the surgery and surgeon I did.

I'm a transmale, junior at the same college you went to and I'm currently experiencing a lot of trouble with my parents. They just set conditions of continuing to help me pay for school, which are that I do not go on testosterone or legally change my name before I graduate. The ugly situation with them is its own problem; what I am actually looking to ask is if 1. I can have my name announced at graduation differently than it actually appears on the diploma and 2. I can get it changed in the school records and a new diploma issued after I change it post graduation. If I can't get it officially changed in the records, how much trouble do you think I'll run into as I apply to jobs or grad school if my legal name is listed on my undergraduate records? Anything you know about the process would be really helpful, thanks!
  1. Yes
  2. Yes

I changed my legal name after graduation. I walked as “Sarah” and that’s what my diploma said. But I had a friend whose name hadn’t been changed legally and they had talked to the deans or someone about reading a name different from their legal one which was printed on their diploma.

After I changed my name, I called up the alumni office and was directe to alum records, where they took down my new name, with the prefix Mr., said thank you, and that was that. It was actually very easy, low-stress, and I don’t think there will be any name conflicts if a job or grad school checks my undergrad records.

Hey, I was wondering if you ever felt nauseous or got sick to your stomach when you first started T?

Not really. Sometimes right after shots feel a little nauseated or light-headed bc of the rush of adrenaline.

Hey Sebastian, happy holidays! I wanted to come by and thank you for leering this blog, and for being such an inspiration for me being comfortable with my gender. This blog has a lot of resources and great posts. It's wonderful seeing someone leading a blog like this, so thank you so much. Also, I really want to thank you for following the collab I'm apart of, TransGents. It caught me by surprise that you would, but it means so much. Anyways, thank you very much Sebastian. I hope you have a good day!

A belated happy holidays to you too!

Hey! You're awesome! I'm glad that I stumbled onto your blog whenever I did... (I think it's b/c you started following me for some crazy reason). Anyway, following you allows me to step into a different pair of shoes for once. I dated someone who will be going through the opposite of what you're going through and I never quite knew what to say, what advice to give, nor did I have a tru understanding of what it meant to be MTF. Anyway, you're awesom and I'm glad that life is treating you decently. :) I wish you tons of luck in the future. You're a definite beacon of light for some people; I hope you know that. :D

Thank you so much for this :)

Happy Holidays Sebastian! I would say Merry Christmas, but I'd be a little late on that one. :)

To you too :D

Do you ever wish you had facial hair? I'm finding this to be a frustrating part of my transition. Being on T yet not growing much facial hair. Is there anything that can be done?

Oh my god yes. I don’t even want facial hair. I just want stubble.

There is not much that can be done. I hear about guys putting their leftover T on their faces, but I’m not sure how much good that will do since it is not made to be absorbed in the skin and injectable T is in oil, which is not helpful for those of us already breaking out!

It will happen eventually. Some cis men wait years longer than their peers. My dad says he never grew thick sideburns. We all have different time lines - cis, trans, everybody. Embrace and get excited about the changes that have come and try yr best to not focus on the facial hair.

Another thing I do is to shave pretty regularly. So I’m never quite sure how much hair or stubble I’d have if I let it go. I think that keeps me saner than letting it grow out and being disappointed.

How did you like Smith? I was thinking about applying there next year, and might go check it out in January. Pros and cons of going there?

I loved Smith, though there were parts I could have done without. I transferred there from BU. And it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’d love to talk to you (and anyone else) more about the pros and cons and my experiences - just write back here with yr email and I’ll send you a message.

Never trust a man without a visible scar. It means he has never truly fought for anything in his life.

ancora-imparo:

And if he hasn’t fought for anything…if he’s always just rolled over and accepted what others dole out as his fate then he will never fight for you.

RUN!

Far.

And fast.

You’ll thank me later but you’re welcome now.

An interesting twist to put on the scars some of us trans men wear.

You seem like a femme guy but I was wondering do you actually identify as femme?

I don’t identify with that term as a label, but I do identify with my feminine qualities. Perhaps out of necessity at this stage in my transition. I don’t know how feminine I will be physically and appearance-wise as I continue in my transition and I think I will identify with those qualities less and less as they fade away.

I would call aspects of my personality feminine and flamboyant and I am definitely proud to have that be part of who I am.

My family and I came up with a funny way to talk about my transition
  • Hilary: It's one of those giant churches with the big LCD screen and everything
  • Mom: Also they are not okay with anything gay or not like them... But their Christmas Eve service probably comes with a lot of "Christmas Miracles"
  • Me: I have a Christmas Miracle! I used to be gay but now I'm straight!!
  • Dad: Hallelujah, he's been SAVED!

I hope that this doesn't offend you but i was wondering what size your boobs were before the top surgery? just because they look a similar size to mine and your chest surgery turned out to look amazing with the peri which is thetype which i want but i thought that there would be too much skin. anyway, thanks :)

Hey there - I”m not offended at all and I’m glad you asked. Also, thanks for the compliment on the results - I’m so pleased with them.

Before T, I was around a 34B. After T, my chest got a lot smaller and I’d guess I was down to an A cup. When I originally consulted with Dr. Garramone, he said he would do Double Incision and I’m guessing most surgeons would have gone that route, but Medalie prefers Peri and is known for using that technique on patients most surgeons wold use DI for.

It has a lot to do with skin elasticity, and he didn’t confirm that he would do peri until we had a consultation in person right before my surgery. Also, I knew the risks going into peri being on the larger side for that surgery and had accepted the possibility of revisions and/or imperfections. And Medalie is really good (and said I had great elasticity) and it all turned out really well.
